“Maui is indeed the best” is the translation for the little signs that I see everywhere. I got a Hawaiian dictionary yesterday and it sure is helpful! I’m still house/pet sitting for a dog, cat, and guinea pig in Napili, a town just south of the place pictured above. Not too shabby! I think I’m finally getting why people are so into their pets. Kaia (translation: ocean, of course) is a super sweet dog who is training me to play fetch on the beach and enjoy long mountain/ocean drives with the windows down. Well, I might have already known about that second part. But still, she sleeps on the floor by my bed and greets me first thing in the morning. It’s a nice comfort to have her around until Dave and Porter arrive.
I won’t go into the crazy logistics here, but I will say that the madness continues. House hunting is a bit of a challenge and Dave is getting ripped off by the airlines once again for his return flight with the dog. I can’t wait until we have a place to call home!
I got some good news today...I will be working from home two days a week! This means less commuting (this island is bigger than you think) and less sitting at home alone for Porter Brown. Sweet. So that means I will be making more money, working at a great charter school, working a bit less, and working partly from home...wherever that may be. My teacher friends, tell me again why you aren’t sending me your resumes? Dave is even considering a career change. Maybe. Someday.
In the meantime, we are doing what we can to get through the transition and get settled. I will post more pics and let everyone know when I have new contact info. I hope you are not melting on the East Coast!
Aloha,
Jen
Congrats Jen and good luck with house hunting!
